In the game, you can choose to start as an egg in another player's nest. But it is no fun to wait a week before you hatch. I devised a solution for that.
Your character is playing inside his/her own dream in the egg. It is a singleplayer mode where you learn all the mechanics of playing in the multiplayer world. It's like a week long tutorial that gets you acquainted with the game, and prepares you for hatchlinghood.
In this dream, you are in your adult form, and if you die in this dream, nothing happens. It's part of the learning, and dreams can't kill you can they?
This dream lasts until hatching day, then you must struggle and use all of your strength to break out of your tiny shell.
As Aghathrax, you are in a large cave nest, where the mother helps bring food and comfort. The Aghathrax parents also teach young about survival.
As Primeerus, you are buried under ground, with no help from the mother, snakes almost always leave their young behind after they are born.
As Khyliacs, you are perched on the top of a tall cliff nest. Where both parents use their fluffy feathers to shelter you from the cold, they will also bring tasty fishes and small mammals.
This may be a good way to reduce boredom in egg stage.
